VAPES ON A PLANE – A REMINDER TO THE PUBLIC AT LARGE

In case you hadn’t already heard, someone wasn’t paying attention to all of the different rules and regulations, and this meant that we experienced a few problems when it came to flying with vaping devices.

A recent event on an airline flight has meant that we’re going to be taking a look in closer detail and also covering a few pieces of vaping etiquette for those people who are taking their vapes on a plane. Clearly, we need to make sure that everyone is caught up, so this doesn’t happen again, so let’s get started.

What’s Happened?

So a traveller, a vaping device and a battery all get on a plane… not heard this one? Well, it’s what happened recently. Typically, when people follow the correct procedure for vaping devices on a plane, no issues emerge. However, this wasn’t the case when a vaping battery caught fire inside the cargo hold of an aircraft, which in turn set off the smoke alarms and forced an emergency landing.

How Can This Be Prevented?

While this thankfully is a relatively minor incident, it does serve as a reminder that not everyone understands how vaping works on planes. To try and rectify this, we’re going to go over the rules for taking vaping devices on a plane.

You need to make sure that you are following all of the rules surrounding vaping. For the sake of safety, we suggest keeping the vaping device inside a plastic bag where it can’t come into contact with any other metallic substance. As well as this, you should be aware that vaping devices should NEVER go into a cargo hold. They need to be taken with you into the cabin every time and safely stored away for the duration of the trip. You should also disconnect and store the battery in a plastic bag if you are concerned that it might activate while inside the bag, and make sure to keep it firmly away from any kind of object which might cause an issue. Also, in case it wasn’t obvious, don’t use any vaping device while you’re on the plane. You’ll generate smoke which will set off the alarms and then you’ll be in serious trouble.

All in all, the incident which took place on a plane is worrying, and it highlights that not enough people understand the rules surrounding vapes on an aircraft. It’s not difficult to work out by any means, but so many people just don’t know what to do because they haven’t been told.
